Tools & Materials Needed
You don’t need special equipment or professional tools to apply TerraLock.
You’ll only need:
- A standard pump garden sprayer (fan nozzle recommended)
- Garden rake (for prep and leveling)
- Gloves (optional)
- Tarp or plastic sheeting (to protect nearby surfaces during application, if needed)
That’s it.
TerraLock Bed & Border Bond is ready to spray — no mixing, no additives, no special setup.
Quick Start
Everything you need to know—at a glance.
- Start with dry mulch, pine straw, small rocks, or other select groundcover
- Shake well and pour into a standard pump sprayer (fan nozzle recommended)
- Spray evenly—no mixing required
- Let it dry clear (typically 4–6 hours, weather dependent)
- Clean tools with soap and water while wet
- Enjoy cleaner, neater beds and borders with less raking, sweeping and blowing
One coat is all you need for most applications.
Get rid of your old "mulch glue" and start saving valuable time and groundcover-material replacement money with Bed & Border Bond.
Coverage Guide
Typical coverage per application:
- 1 gallon: ~100–120 sq ft
- 2 gallons: ~200–240 sq ft
- 5 gallons: ~500–600 sq ft
Coverage can vary based on material type, depth, porosity, and application rate.
For best results, apply evenly in light, overlapping passes.
Three Steps. Less Maintenance. Lock It & Leave it.
Prep the bed, spray for coverage, and let it dry clear. Then, simply enjoy a cleaner, more-stable landscape and a lot more free time in your outdoor spaces.
Step 1
Prep the Area
Set the bed up for a clean, long-lasting bond.
- Spread mulch, pine straw, gravel, or other groundcover to the desired depth
- Make sure the material is as dry as possible before applying (Turn off irrigation 1–2 days in advance if needed)
- Rake lightly to level the surface and reduce dust
- For gravel or stone: rinse lightly to remove dust, then allow to dry completely
Dry material = better bonding and longer-lasting results.
Step 2
Apply TerraLock Bed & Border Bond
One simple coat is all you need for most applications.
- Shake container well before use
- Pour into a pump sprayer (fan nozzle recommended)
- Protect nearby surfaces you don’t want sprayed
- Spray evenly in smooth, overlapping passes
- Work in small sections for consistent coverage
No mixing required. Just spray and walk away.
Step 3
Let It Dry & Set
Let the product do the work.
- Allow to dry 4–6 hours (weather dependent)
- Avoid watering or rain for 24–48 hours
- Limit foot traffic while curing
Once dry, TerraLock forms a clear, breathable bond that stabilizes the surface while still allowing water and air to reach the soil.
Troubleshooting & Pro Tips
A few helpful notes if you need them.
Why does it look cloudy when first applied?
A slightly milky or cloudy appearance during application is normal. TerraLock is designed to dry completely clear as it cures. As moisture evaporates, the finish becomes transparent and blends naturally with your groundcover.
What can cause a weak or uneven bond?
Bond strength is most often affected by moisture, dust, or over-dilution. For best results, make sure the groundcover is dry, free of excess dust, and applied evenly. Avoid watering or rain for at least 24–48 hours after spraying.
How do I get the most even finish?
Apply TerraLock Bed & Border Bond in smooth, overlapping passes and work in small sections at a time. A fan nozzle helps distribute the product evenly and prevents over-saturation in any one area.
How long will the hold last?
TerraLock is designed to last multiple seasons in typical conditions. High foot traffic, pets, heavy rainfall, or extreme weather may shorten lifespan over time. A light reapplication can refresh performance when needed.
Will I need a second coat?
For most applications, one coat is all you need. In areas with heavier foot traffic, deeper material, or extreme weather exposure, a second coat can help improve penetration and extend performance.
Will usage dull my mulch, pine straw or small rocks?
No. In fact, Bed & Border Bond helps keep groundcover materials color fast and looking new and bright.
